With an excellent Aussie chef at the helm serving up light bistro fare, this chic venue draws in a well-heeled CBD crowd. After polishing off a signature steak, linger at the simply-decorated tables and dive into their wonderful chocolate mousse, complemented by a bottle from their superb wine list.

Takes a bit of finding but the food and wine selection makes it worthwhile looking. The Aussie chef knows what he is doing and produces some delightful food. The outdoor patio is rather pleasant in the summer.

A delightful little restaurant with a myriad of food options on the menu. The Australian Chef certainly knows his stuff and prepares simple, tasty and good food.
The mains can be a little pricey (especially off the changing Chef's Recommendation Menu), and wines are not cheap either, but there's a good selection by the glass, and you can get away with RMB300-400 for 2 pax, excluding wine.
The setting is nice, open plan, simple, bright bistro-style, though the location makes it difficult to find first time round.
But it's definitely worth your while to make the effort.

Excellent food even though on the night we visited the chef was doing an outside catering job.
Starters/Entree... The small antipasto, included fish and eggplant that were wonderful and the olives were excellent (RMB 45). We also shared cantaloupe and prosciutto that was tasty and 'fresh" (RMB 50). The beer battered calamari (RMB 55) could have had a little spice added (personal taste) and was undercooked however it was replaced without request when a comment was made. Nice touch!
The soup of the day was tomato with prawns (30) and one of my co-diners gave it an "OK".
For mains, the lamb rack with herb mustard crust with rosemary potatoes was very good and cooked to perfection (RMB 125). The pork vienna schnitzel (90), pasta norma with eggplant and chili (60) and risotto nero (black) with calamari (85) were all great.
The Australian Kingston Estate Chardonnay seemed good value at RMB 210. We left satisfied and I will definitely go back, probably often.

Went there two times for lunch so far. The first time was really disappointing. The spinach soup was bland and too spinachy. The salad wilted and a little brown. The fettuccine with mushroom greasy and not good at all. Best thing that day was the dessert. Second try was way better, the soup was the same though, but the lamb leg and the fish h' chips were solid good tasty quality. Anyway for 68RMB cant expect too much.

One of Beijing's best Western restaurants. This isn't Michelin territory, and just as well. The food is simple and uncomplicated and succeeds because of this (helped along by a manager and chef who seem genuinely interested in what the customer wants of a night out). Good wine list, nice space (barring the toilets -- nice one, Pan Shiyi), reasonably priced. Only gripe is the location; getting into Jianwai Soho at most hours of the day is a bugger.

Cafe Europa offers one of the best value business lunches, consistently good coffee, and is a great location for a quiet, quality dinner.
The Cafe offers what is probably the best value wine list in Beijing (Pavillion is another venue with good wines at great prices, and Med at Block 8 has Bordeaux first growths at very fair prices, if you're in the market for wines of this calibre).
With an Austrian owner and an Australian chef, the specials menu changes regularly, offering variety alongside the main menu.
Well worth a visit for anyone who appreciates good food and wine at fair prices.

Experience Review At a very new area & hard to find.... The setting is very friendly & comfortable. Sadly, restaurant is still very quite, but the quality of food & prices at an average price bracket. They should do well. Reasonable selection wine list but not too bad for the wine by the glass. With some interesting variety such as Chenin Blanc & a typical Sicilia variety Inzolia (Regaleali)
