Everyone has a favorite restaurant tucked away in a poorly lit alley. Allow us to submit Pharaoh as a candidate for your new favorite diner. This oddly-named establishment serves Serbian food which is both straightforward and delicious. The menu offered up by owner cum chef Ivan Matic focuses on one particular Serbian dish, a generously-portioned crêpe variant called palacinka. Order one salted with tartar sauce and grilled chicken breast and salad (¥26); deep-fried and filled with ketchup, sour cream, cheese, pepperoni, and pickles (¥38); or as a dessert, drizzled with Nutella and chock full of bananas and crushed cookies (¥25). Any skepticism about the unusual ingredient combinations was forgotten as soon at the first bite made out tastebuds dance with joy. -Matt Schrader
