No false advertising here, the JW Marriott's flagship restaurant is about doing two things right: brasserie-style French cuisine and Pinot wines. The French chef's recipes, including awe-inducingly creamy mashed potatoes are straight from his grandma's kitchen.

A traditional French brasserie with modern flourishes, Pinot Brasserie is at once elegant and chic, yet warm and inviting with all the charm of a French boulevard café.

Décor is vibrant and classy, with wine splashed feature walls, ruby red leather sofa booths, tiled floors, and classic Deco art. A kitchen with window creates a lively atmosphere, enhanced with bubbling French music and a patio street vista out to China Central Place.

The exclusive Chef’s Table in a private room features an individual kitchen and lounge, as well as dining space for an intimate soiree, dinner or even relaxed business meeting.

Although informal, the cuisine at Pinot Brasserie is nothing less than exceptional. Chef Guilliaume Comparat adds a unique twist to traditional French café fare, serving a wide range of European brasserie staples, including daily blackboard specials, to pair with the extensive selection of hand-picked Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris wines on offer.

The concept behind the Marriott’s new flagship restaurant is to produce quality French fayre in a semi formal setting. They have hit the mark with a stylish dining area that draws you to the open kitchen. Comfortable seating and mellow tunes allow you to sit back and enjoy the delights served by well trained staff. Wine here is all about Pinot and includes a decent selection by the bottle (YY275 to YY1250) and by the glass (YY75 to YY128). The Redbank Pinot Gris (YY108) is a must try and is my new favourite white. The menu features the French chef’s grandmother’s recipes, and the set “plat du jour” lunch (YY108 for 2 courses and YY128 for 3) of onion soup followed by veal stew tasted wonderful. The pate and wholegrain mustard (YY118) married well and the chicken with morel sauce (YY118) delighted the pallette. The final highs were tart tatin (YY53) and carrot crème brulee (YY53). I would definitely recommend ordering a portion of mashed potatoes. They are incredibly smooth, rich and heart stoppingly delicious. The iced tea came with a unique twist, a choice of flavoured syrups. The private dining room is perfect for those special occasions or just impressing your friends. It has it's own private kitchen where your personal chef can whip anything you desire. All in all a quality experience.

Flawless French restaurant in a wonderful luxurious laid back and not overwhelming posh pomp setting. Went there for a cheese and wine tasting, so no idea about their regular menu, but when the food is the same quality (probably even better) as the food served at that event, it must be good. The selection of cheese presented was fantastic, there were 15 different kinds of French cheese to chose from. The buffet of cured meats, ham and sausages was as good as the cheese buffet and of course served with lots of freshly baked French bread (i missed the butter though). On top of that a big BBQ with a variety of meat, fish and vegetables was located outside. Not to forget to mention the selection of wines offered. Not sure whether it was the above mentioned Redbank Pinot Gris, but the Pinot Gris i had was terrific.

I will definitely go back to try either their regulars or just have a cheese plate which deserves the name and is worth the money.
