A perfect replica of a British curry house, this jumping joint draws in the lunchtime crowd with its sizable and tasty Indian classics. With gorgeous wooden carvings, excellent service and a very dedicated and friendly staff of Indian managers and chefs, this restaurant is a must for anyone who loves Indian cuisine.
It seems Shunyi gets more worldly every day, with its brand new housing complexes, luxury hotels and enormous exhibition center. All this development brings with it a wealth of restaurants to the area, including a new Taj Pavilion, one of Beijing’s most popular Indian restaurants. The décor of the Shunyi branch isn’t as grand as the impressive wood carvings at the Lido or Guomao, but it’s very tasteful and comfortable. We most enjoyed the tender and deliciously spiced Tandoori Chicken (RMB45 for half), and the Mutton Dahiwalla (RMB48), a lamb curry with yogurt. We also ordered the Palak Paneer (RMB45), as well as the Naan breads (RMB10 for Plain Naan) and the Mango Lassis (RMB20), all our favorites from the Lido branch. With a blend of the most popular dishes at the Guomao and Lido locations, and lower prices than in the city, Taj Pavilion’s menu offers great new dining opportunities for those in Shunyi.
