This restaurant offers the ABCs of Italian fare with a new concept - picking up a tray, getting in the queue and watching your meal promptly prepared in an open kitchen before you. La Nuova Vita serves up Italian classics like pasta, pizzas, parma ham and honey melon. They also serve Italian wines by the glass starting at RMB35 and make good espressos with a kick.
Novel Italian
In contrast to Beijing's well-established Italian eateries that strive to please the pickiest gourmand, La Nuova Vita offers the ABCs of Italian dining. The simple modern décor boasts custom-designed leather furniture and stark white interiors complemented by long windows that let in plenty of light. We were surprised but delighted by this new concept of quick and simple Italian fare and queuing before an open kitchen to pick up our food. We got in line with our trays, ordered and watched the prompt preparation of our meal. The penne chili sauce (¥28), pesto spaghetti (¥38) cream of mushroom (¥25) and pumpkin cream soup (¥20) are worth coming back for. Yet the focaccia bread pizza drizzled with melted mozzarella lacked some of the same finesse. Still, it’s not everyday that you find yourself lounging on a one-of-a kind designer couch, ordering a (¥20) pizza and enjoying a classy espresso (¥15) made from imported beans and a la Pavoni coffee machine.
