This upscale eatery is a convenient redoubt of pasta and wine. The large bay windows and snug, two-person tables offer a surprisingly romantic spot from which to observe the hustle and bustle below. Run by a pair of Italian brothers, the place is often full of their stylish Italian compatriots swirling strands of spaghetti.

Sunday Brunch... I came with my friend, and we could decide what to order, because everything on the menu looks good. Waiter came and suggest us sunday brunch menu. Anti pasti was good, my friend had his mussel dish... it was very good. My spaghetti vongole was cooked to perfection, on the other hand, raviolli that my friend ordered was superb!! My Suckling pig was good, however, that dish need a liitle bit sauce , because for me it was a liitle bit dry, it was delicious though. To finished i had Tiramisu, the most traditional, and i was impressed.

Well, i would like to give 5, maybe next time when i came back.

I had been meaning to try this place for years, so yesterday I finally got around to it. Boy, was I blown away. Certainly one of the best Italians in town and probably one of the best fine dining places.

A super ambience, perfect service, superb food and quality wine list all make this a great find. Highlights of the evening included a delicate gnocchi in a gorgonzola and asparagus sauce and a lovely moist grey mullet.

Will definitely be back for more.

Perched in a prime second floor location in the Pacific Century Plaza, L’Isola is one of the most well-reputed Italian establishments in the Beijing dining scene. The décor vacillates between the dark and contemporary entrance and wine bar to the bright and airy picture windows that dominate the length of the restaurant. As I was presented the menu, the server immediately pointed out that they had already sold out of one appetizer and one main course. I mention this, as I’ve been trapped by the “I’m sorry, we’re out of that” merry-go-round in several places around town and I appreciate this thoughtfulness of service that will save me a potential headache later. My dining companion and I embarked on a self-made wine/tasting dinner. We began with a glass of Proseco (59 RMB/glass) with a shrimp and potato tart (The potatoes were somewhat bland). Next we tried the spaghetti crowed with dainty crab meat, complemented by a glass of Vermentino (50 RMB/glass) from Sardinia--yum. The pasta was perfectly al dente, not overcooked, like in many other places in Beijing. Next up was a simple spring black truffle risotto, paired with a Barbera (70 RMB/glass). The risotto was not swimming in butter or cream to mask its firm texture. Our last pasta, a pair of pasta satchels filled with lamb...The dish featured the richest sauce of the night, a gorgonzola-pecorino cream. (I wish the lamb was softer, maybe braised). For our final course, the tiramisu. was excellent. My only complaint is I would prefer a touch more cookie and another pour of Tia Marie. Lastly, I enjoyed the best espresso I've ever had in Beijing. Despite my very picky complaints, this was the best Italian I've had in Beijing...all the pasta/risotto was skillful prepared and de-licious. I highly suggest it!

This is a nice place for a view of the gonti ,sanlitun bar street. The wines are excellent.Too good choice of wines, and what we went for was good.

The food: Spaghetti could be bit better. The chinese cook made for us as we watched him. The owner was around but he did not cook for us this time.May be the owner cooks, or the chef was not in a great mood! The soup we ordered was nice.

The cool part is the cutlery. The breads accompanying were not so fresh and could get better next time.

The owner is nice and sweet to talk. The wait staff too were co-operative and nothing to complain.

Only issue is value for money ! Its a bit expensive place only for those who care for the view down or want to impress someone whether a business partner or a girlfriend.

Just for food , I didnt find it value for though though it scored high on service, ambience, and style .

Our winner was the wine ! If not for wine , I would have 2 stars.

down here for their special Sardegnain brunch, bright and spacious hall,French windows, attentive services, plus unforgetable dishes presented nicely.the cured pork fillet carpaccio taste great!ungreasy, thin and refreshing with paring leaves.the ravioli was particular for the additional minced mintleaf.I choose the traditional roasted Sardegna style suckling pig with diced roasted yam, generous portions was definitely enough for my stomach.all in all,the experience left me a kind of healthy, enjoyable feeling .

Dun really like the ceiling of the restaurant, the pipings and air-con duct can be seen though(no renovations to cover them up...well maybe to save cost). But I give my thumbs up for the in-house italian music. The volume was just nice...pple can still hear each other when we whisper. The food flavour was a little too light. Waiter was good~able to give recomendations and suggestions on the menu. Agree that the price was pricey. Overall experience 4/5...Ambience suitable for business lunch.

Italian. That's the word to describe this restaurant. Autentic food, the best Italian wine list in town and the two brothers, Roberto and Massimo makes the difference, always there to accomodate you in different experience with incredible food and wine matches. Will go back any time i want to feel at home. The best Italian ever in Beijing dining experience.

I went to L'isola last week with a friend w/out a reservation. The place was packed for a business meeting. Instead of turning us away, the owner invited us to have a free meal with free wine and more. Incredibly polite and hospitable.

Relaxed environment and authentic food I have been there a few times already and it has become one of my favourites, spacious open atmosphere ,windows overlooking the plaza and the busy street in front. Not to find easy to find this open yet relaxed kind of restaurants in Beijing with authentic Italian food. Certainly a good place for a relaxing dining experience for twoCertainly a good place for a relaxing dining experience for two

Be Warned! I was very excited to try this Italian restaurant as I had been hearing great things about their pasta for many weeks and eagerly anticipated my visit. Very regrettably my experience of their cuisine was so over-shadowed by unacceptably bad service and appealing rudeness from the Owner himself that I for one will never go back; from now on it’s only Annie’s or Assaggi for me!

Credit card L'Isola Restaurant should advise patrons that it only accepts credit cards issued by local Chinese banks. We had a distasteful experience at this place where an HSBC credit card which has been used and accepted by numberous outlets in Beijing was refused. The owner suggested I go outside and get cash from the machine. Don't be ridiculuous !!! Of course, this place will not see me again.

Great Pasta! Isola's kitchen is on view in this romantically lit room. That is good because then you can thank the chefs personally for the excellent handmade pasta -- tender yet toothy and exactly right. The fresh mozzarella is the best I have had outside of Bleecker Street in NYC. The waiters are knowledgable, always a plus when you need help deciding between the penne with duck ragu or the pumpkin ravioli. We really liked the small two-some tables placed diagonally. We could sit next to each other (the better to share the antipasto plate) and watch the action in the street below. The tagliatelli with pesto, fresh peas and potatoes is especially recommended. Good wines by the glass.
