This upscale eatery is a convenient redoubt of pasta and wine. The large bay windows and snug, two-person tables offer a surprisingly romantic spot from which to observe the hustle and bustle below. Run by a pair of Italian brothers, the place is often full of their stylish Italian compatriots swirling strands of spaghetti.

Credit card L'Isola Restaurant should advise patrons that it only accepts credit cards issued by local Chinese banks. We had a distasteful experience at this place where an HSBC credit card which has been used and accepted by numberous outlets in Beijing was refused. The owner suggested I go outside and get cash from the machine. Don't be ridiculuous !!! Of course, this place will not see me again.

Be Warned! I was very excited to try this Italian restaurant as I had been hearing great things about their pasta for many weeks and eagerly anticipated my visit. Very regrettably my experience of their cuisine was so over-shadowed by unacceptably bad service and appealing rudeness from the Owner himself that I for one will never go back; from now on it’s only Annie’s or Assaggi for me!

Relaxed environment and authentic food I have been there a few times already and it has become one of my favourites, spacious open atmosphere ,windows overlooking the plaza and the busy street in front. Not to find easy to find this open yet relaxed kind of restaurants in Beijing with authentic Italian food. Certainly a good place for a relaxing dining experience for twoCertainly a good place for a relaxing dining experience for two

I went to L'isola last week with a friend w/out a reservation. The place was packed for a business meeting. Instead of turning us away, the owner invited us to have a free meal with free wine and more. Incredibly polite and hospitable.

Italian. That's the word to describe this restaurant. Autentic food, the best Italian wine list in town and the two brothers, Roberto and Massimo makes the difference, always there to accomodate you in different experience with incredible food and wine matches. Will go back any time i want to feel at home. The best Italian ever in Beijing dining experience.

Dun really like the ceiling of the restaurant, the pipings and air-con duct can be seen though(no renovations to cover them up...well maybe to save cost). But I give my thumbs up for the in-house italian music. The volume was just nice...pple can still hear each other when we whisper. The food flavour was a little too light. Waiter was good~able to give recomendations and suggestions on the menu. Agree that the price was pricey. Overall experience 4/5...Ambience suitable for business lunch.

Great Pasta! Isola's kitchen is on view in this romantically lit room. That is good because then you can thank the chefs personally for the excellent handmade pasta -- tender yet toothy and exactly right. The fresh mozzarella is the best I have had outside of Bleecker Street in NYC. The waiters are knowledgable, always a plus when you need help deciding between the penne with duck ragu or the pumpkin ravioli. We really liked the small two-some tables placed diagonally. We could sit next to each other (the better to share the antipasto plate) and watch the action in the street below. The tagliatelli with pesto, fresh peas and potatoes is especially recommended. Good wines by the glass.
