Royal Feast
Located in the upscale re-incarnation of the Chi'enmen 23, Ristorante Sadler is the latest restaurant opened by celebrity Italian chef Claudio Sadler. We began the evening with GM Gian Fusetto, a knowledgeable and affable host who picked wine pairings from their extensive listing to accompany our meal. The muted ambiance and neutral interior allowed the presentation and quality of the product to shine, while service was as gracious as was expected. To start, the sautéed tiger prawn with pancetta (¥190) was flavorful and perfectly prepared, compared to the uneven seasoning on the tuna tartare (¥200). The pasta course was stellar but it was the risotto in a beer reduction with goat cheese and onions (¥180) that stole the show. We were divided on whether the dentex (red snapper) entrée (¥220) was overly fishy, but agreed the fava bean and almond encrusted lamb chop (¥320) was perfectly tender and delicious. To finish, we found the Naples sponge cake (¥100) especially rum-flavored, yet the warm tiramisu served with coffee ice cream (¥95) was a universally enjoyed twist on the traditional sweet. The ice cream tasted like a wonderful reincarnation of a shot of espresso - just the perfect way to sum up the evening.
