Modernity meets traditional at this hip Japanese joint in Hotel G, serving up traditional dishes with an innovative, cosmopolitan twist. With a menu that features both classic and nouveau, there's plenty of choices and room to experience everything from sushi and sashimi to salads and chicken curry. Excellent service and the green tea green tea crème brulée warrants second visits.
More Morio
Knowing that this resataurant is housed in the boutique Hotel G, host to the well-reviewed burger bar 25 Degrees, we came in with high expectations. That said, we were a tad disappointed by our recent visit to the newly opened Morio J-Cuisine. Our spider roll (¥90) , though sufficiently good, was hardly the best we’ve had, and our assorted sushi (¥90), featuring sashimi on sushi rice, failed to deliver with its warm, raw fish. Had it been more chilled, there’s no doubt that we would have eaten it wholeheartedly. Fortunately, the roasted duck breast with pumpkin soba (¥60) saved the meal as did an order of the restaurant’s green tea crème brulée (¥38). The latter was a rich sweet fusion of its two components. While their food might need a little more time, Morio’s service is certainly up to par. The staff was both attentive and polite, inquiring regularly to ensure that we were all right. Indeed, the service alone is enough to warrant a second visit. After all, everyone deserves a second chance and how many of us get it right the first time around?
