Focusing on the art of blending fresh imported seasonings and spices from Malaysia for its unique curry pastes, this restaurant manages to keep prices reasonable without sacrificing flavor and authenticity. Look out for the "Nyonya achar," a dish of pickled vegetables served up in a spicy peanut chili sauce. Perfect for Nyonya cuisine.

This restaurant smells and feels like a Peranakan home. There is a lingering 'something is cooking with Southeast Asian spices in the kitchen smell'. It smells like home and it makes me happy. I think they tried to get away with making everything sweet, from the achar that was missing the tarty kick to the chicken curry and sambal eggplant. First time I've had sweet sambal (?!), but I won't complain since it's the closest I'd get to home.
The kueh pai tee left me sorely disappointed with its soggy greasy shell, but the curry puff and teh tarek (pulled tea) would make for a perfect tea time snack.

went back here after 1 year and the place is still consistently good!
really a place to have your "brunch", with sun shining in, you don't get that much crowd, although not a buffet, but their food has always been great.
Rujak and satay are always the king, fish is very nice as well.
And great meal ends with their handmade cakes or bubur cha cha.

i find the balachan kangkong not spicy enough and the sambal eggplant is alittle too sweet...
But... lime juice with plum is delicious! red chicken curry (chicken rendang) is fabulous... achar is really authentic.
nyonya kitchen is like a little gem tucked in the dark alley of a cosy old neighhood. I would recommend this to any homesick foodie.

Nyonya kitchen is at the happy confluence of good humble food, soothing decor and affordability.
While Malaysian cuisine may be a little more trendy, a little more exotic, the taste and presentation at Nyonya is humble and BS free. But when you think BS free in Beijing, that usually means blinding lights and a constant roar of conversation. Nyonya is quiet and calm. The large windows are great. The lime green walls are fun and soothing. The little Christian reading room is an unexpected happy find for weatherworn souls.

It's a restaurant I'd consider being off the beaten path, yet it's nothing short of excellent food. You've got to walk across the street from the Lido Hotel, pass a denizen of smaller shops and follow the edge of a small outdoor park to reach Nyonya Kitchen.
Situated like a small cafe, Nyonya serves up some spectacular Malaysian food that would tickle anyone's taste buds.
The obvious choice is the curry, which has a good kick of spice. But if you're not in the mood for anything too hot, the riblettes or barbecue pork rice are excellent meat alternatives.
Do not leave Nyonya without trying a curry puff, which looks very similar to an empanada.

Great place, great service, great ambiance, I wouldnt describe it difficult to find. But would describe as a hidden gem of Beijing, the intimacy and decor, plus the hand-down Peranakan clothings decorate the wall is a very nice touch. The sister restaurant up in Shunyi is double the atmosphere. Though the flavor is a bit weak for my taste, but a must go and discover for yourself.
Another option is the Awana, taste is fabulous!
Just so you dont get lost, stop at the Lido bus station, where it's a bit crowded, go into the local residential area, you should see a park filled with "gym" equipments painted in blue and yellow (then you're in the right direction).

Like the intro above, perfect place for Nyonya cuisine. Well worth the trouble to look for the place and rather value for money as well. Certainly a place worth frequent visit.

Got to be the best place to go for Malaysian food. Well prepared tasty food with friendly wait staff. Difficult to find but well worth looking.

Don't know much much about the real Malaysian food (been there once, more than 15 years ago), but this small place lost in Gaojiayuan certainly is certainly (as one previous reviewer said) a hidden gem in the BJ food scene. The achards were a bit plain, but the others dishes I had sure were tasty ! Add a friendly staff, a good value and that's a recipe for a satisfied gonz888
