This hutong restaurant brings authentic Greek cooking to Beijing, with a range of traditional favorites, including a delicious chicken kebab. The service is impeccable and the small outdoor patio is perfect for dates.
Authentic Greek food has arrived in the hutongs of Beijing, and the dishes at newly-opened Argo had us reminiscing over the flavors of Little Greece back home. Located in a refurbished hutong house, this modestly decorated restaurant features a small romantic patio perfect for a date. We started off with the Argo plate (¥50), a mixture of traditional favorites like hummus, tzaziki, olives, stuffed grape leaves and eggplant dip. Though the grape leaves were stringy and the pita bread has to be ordered on the side (¥8 per piece), the assortment whipped up our appetites for what was to follow. Brought by impeccably polite and attentive staff, our chicken kebab (¥70), succulent pieces of roasted chicken smothered in tomato sauce, was accompanied by thick strips of deliciously greasy potatoes, seasoned with herbs. The house wines (¥40 per glass) were a great complement to a simple, hearty, home-style meal. We’ll definitely be back.
