This Mediterranean restaurant and bar has a kitchen helmed by former Mare Nostrum chefs, serving up deliciously healthy food. Attentive English speaking wait staff provide excellent service in the very tastefully done up decor. The set menu changes weekly and don't miss the rice with milk dessert.

An excellent Dine and bar, with a Mediterranean cuisine. A beautiful decor in the bar and all in the restaurant, with a very nice private room for business diner or lunch, or to eat between friends and family. The staff is very good, and you can feel a good relationship. For the price, it's reasonable, considering the good quality of ingredients and wine, and finally, a place who elate you in an other world for a great moment. A very good restaurant, and I hope it will be a good address in Beijing. Good luck to TAO and see you again !!!!

Read restaurant review in that's bj, and just had a try in Tao. The decor is beautiful. It is mediterranean cuisine, very healthy, most of all, and tasty. Seems not many people join the bar yet, but it looks very special. Plus, currently they are doing bar promotion, all soft drinks buy one get one free from 5pm to 7pm. I definitely will come back.

Thanks for all the good comments. We tried our best to build a contemporary but elegant restaurant. Food is definitely tasty, and we also give great attention to the freshness, variety and combination of the ingredients. Delivering care, creativity and harmony through our food and service is our goal. We believe there are going to be more and more people to appraciate our restaurant, concept and effort.

I think its a bit weird that only people from the restaurant are writing reviews. Looking more closely it's obvious that Tao has copied the formula, menus and even events from successful restaurants in Beijing - not very inspiring. I'm also confused as to why they are using the names of previous Mare Nostrum Chefs. They are currently involved with Aqua at the new Legation Quarter. All a bit dodgy for me (same with all the free stuff - good restaurants don't give meals and drinks away for free) no thanks.

Thank you for the attention, but there is some misunderstanding expressed. First, Jordi and Laia (executive chef and sous chef from former MareNostrum) are now working with us. Jordi as kitchen consultant and Laia as chef de cuisine. It's true that Jordi is also working with Aqua on a new restaurant in Beijing. Montse (used to be MareNostrum assistant floor manager) is now working with us as floor manager. I hope this explanation will clarify your doggy feeling. As a new restaurant, we are offering our customers something different, mediterranean inspired contemporary cuisine, healthy, fresh and tasty. Jordi and Laia make a lot of effort on the menu design, and innovative touch on each dish. Regarding this point, we don't allow any humiliating statement to devalue this hard work. Please give some respect here. There is nothing wrong with giving customers good offers as long as the food and service quality is guaranteed.

I put a review in here and it has been removed! Is that usual if the restaurant is an advertiser? Anyway, I was saying that there is nothing at all original about Tao. The menus are copied from several successful restaurants in Beijing - even the prices are the same! I would give full credit if Tao came up with its own ideas that were interesting. A poor imitation unfortunately.

Located in Lucky Street, this restaurant with a bar on the first floor and a dining room upstairs has a modern and stylish decoration . The most impressive from our point of view is the quality of the food and ingredients. Try the Avocado tartare or the Foie Gras they are currently proposing and you will understand. As for the main course, I personally prefer the fishes but tried the meats a couple of times and it is also good. The other positive point is the staff: friendly and good english speaking: they choose good music and keep a quiet and cosy atmosphere in the restaurant. I wish a great future to this restaurant!

This is one of the least visited under-valued Mediterranean restaurants in the chaoyang area. The food here is absolutely delicious. I can honestly say that i have yet to try a dish that's bad. From freshly made avacado and shrimp to the smooth texture of the pumpkin soup, the sea-bass to the mouth watering chicken, i can't believe i haven't found this place earlier. The decor however, needs some consistency and fine touches like their dishes.

Combining a bit of olive oil, a slice of mushroom patty, a sliver of arugula and a piece of shrimp carpaccio, the resulting spoonful melted in our mouths. This was the defining moment of our dinner at Tao; it was also characteristic of the way in which different elements either melded fantastically or failed to make a point in this elegantly designed new eatery. While our starter, the carpaccio, was delightful, the grilled snapper that came afterwards seemed a letdown, with the green beans doing nothing for the flavors of the fish, which was well-prepared, but not memorable. For dessert, the yogurt made in-house tasted like the varieties found in ceramic jars at street snack shops, but the appearance of diced mango and pine nuts among the sweet creaminess was a delicious surprise. The set menu (¥168/2 courses and ¥188/3 courses for dinner) changes weekly. Perhaps change will bring consistency.
