SMS Guanxi for 10% off the bill (beverage exempt). With its hefty margaritas and cold cervezas served up with a rare wedge of crisp lime, this ol' timer of a Mexican restaurant still keeps them coming for more. The outdoor patio and powerful Wi-Fi connection make for a great afternoon outside.

Great outdoor deck to chill in with margaritas. It's a little pricey, but worth it.

Coming from southern California, I know what good Mexican food taste like. The burrito of this restaurant falls very short of event expectation for such type of cuisine in Beijing. It taste exactly like the 99 cents supermarket burrito from the frozen section. While the atmosphere is decent, I don't come here for the atmosphere, I want the food to live up to its name.

Mexican Wave has been one of the mainstays of independent Western food venues in Beijing since at least my time, which began in July 1996. Their Texan spicy pizza always made a late evening in Beijing Scene all the more enjoyable. Especially when sliced hot dogs were substituted for pepperoni at other places!

I would say Mexican Wave has never really been about the Mexican food --- except when there wasn't any other Mexican food around. Historically, Mexican Wave has always meant pizza -- pizza before The Tree and other newcomers.

That said, I think it's tricky for older establishments to keep up with changes in the environment while still maintaining the aura of days gone by. Unfortunately, we have better options for both pizza and Mexican food now, which puts Mexican Wave at a disadvantage unless you're just seeking a taste of the past.

Viva Huxleys.

went there last week hungry for that great mexican food u'd expect from a place called 'MEXICAN wave' - however, the only thing mexican was a sombrero nailed to the wall. lucky me, the plain flavors, fusion-cuisine like portions and high prices outplayed the annoying music.
