At first glance, Sahara appears to be no more than another small storefront bakery. Inside, though, it opens up into an expansive, crisp interior. Be sure to hit the hummus (RMB30), moutabel (RMB30), and the Turkish salad with fresh-baked pitas (RMB35), but consider giving the Sahara cocktail a pass (RMB45).

This place is massive, although you would never know from the entrance.
We were the only customers on a Saturday lunch time. Alas the the baker doesn't start until mid afternoon so there were no fresh baked breads or pies. We were a little concerned by this but actually the food was truly excellent.
The Jordanian owner was really friendly and helpful. He claimed his humus was he best in town, andI have to say he was probably right. Would also highly recommend the moutabel and the couscous. The lemon juice and and mint was also a joy.
Will definitely go back in the evening to sample the entertainment and the baking.

This place seems to be a largely undiscovered perle: The food is mostly good to excellent. Especially the humus is world-class. Also the baba ganoug, the motebel and the manakesh with zahter and cheese are very tasty. Only the chicken shishtaouq was slightly too dry.
Make sure to go for a shisha too! Big sized, lots of dense smoke and good in taste. And for 50RMB a bargain, especially since we smoked one for 1.5h before capitulating (the tobacco was still good).
Also the interior is nice and cosy and their band definitely better than what I heard at 1001 nights or Red Rose before. It seems more authentic and is not all too lound (especially on the second floor). Once can still talk to each other without shouting, even if the performance is on.
Service? Very attentive and friendly. The very charming waiter saying "see you" everytime he leaves the table is most definitely funny too. :)
Altogether a wonderful oasis to hang loose, enjoy some of the Arab way of "dolce far niente" and eat until one feels like sleeping on the comfy cushions.
Things that could be improved: The "Arab tea" (simply Lipton Black tea) and some the chicken, which was a little too dry.
Other than that: Go check it out, this place is too comfortable and great value to stay a largely "undiscovered perle"!! Will most definitely go back there.

Didn't try the food there but had the shisha there. Nice and relaxing place but it would be better if the place is a bit quieter.

Big disappointment! The food is just OK - not bad, not great - but prices vary from expensive to obscene (I recmmend the "meat pie" - you get three baozi-sized things for 38 RMB). Except this guy (I guess he's the owner) who was really nice, the atmosphere is pretty bad. The place itself has an unfriendly feeling and it's very uncomfortble (on the sofas, didn't try the chairs though). The belly dancer seemed unprofessional and the fuwuyuanrs pretty bored. Music was alternating between too loud and unhearable, which made it really disturbing.

The pita was not so great. But then again, I have a grandmother from Alexandria, so I have yet to find any place in Beijing that does it right.
On the other hand, the food was great (especially Middle Eastern standards like humus, baba ghanoush, and moutabal), the service was prompt and attentive, and the Sanlitun location is very convenient.
It's a bit on the pricey side, and I do agree that it can be noisy in the evenings, but I liked the food enough to return.

Great food, the best mid eastern food in beijing, better than 1000 nughts. we ate the meat plate mix, it is 88 rmb per person!!. the resturant is a little expensive.
4 persons- 560 rmb
