Possibly the best Xinjiang joint in town, featuring delicious, homemade yoghurt, this king of the kebabs also boasts a friendly all-Uighur staff and is as authentic as it gets. Look out for the moustached manager who's always there sucking on a hookah in this courtyard gem. Perfect for authentic Xinjiang.

The food is great, as you've read. BUT there is something else that I just need to say.
I've been going to this restaurant for 3 years because of the food and picturesque hutong.. it's a fun place to bring guests.
However, the owner of the restaurant, and all of the waitresses are just awful - I'd like to use much stronger words. The owner has an incredible temper and will yell and scream at anyone who asks for a colder beer, to turn the air conditioning on, sending back a dirty plate or ask for another set of chopsticks.
He kicked my group out of the restaurant once because we had a beer while waiting for our other friends to arrive. It was 5PM, the restaurant was empty and when our friend came he said that our table - and all the other empty tables - were already reserved and we had to leave. The guy is such a ** but again, I keep coming back - the food is good if you can stand him.
The waitresses are just awful too. In Beijing I'd never complain about waitresses that just walk around the restaurant like zombies, but here it's a new level - they're just mean and rude. They scowl at you when you order food, and if you need to interact with them at all, they roll their eyes and walk away. To summarize, every human that works in the restaurant (perhaps besides the cooks) is just a bad, bad time.
I wish the food weren't so good, I'd sure love to see this place go down.

This place is as close to a real Xinjiang restaurant as you can get in Beijing. Big, shiny wooden furniture, bored but efficient waitresses and delicious food. Big chuan'r, xinjiang salad and DaPanJi are all excellent. Don't miss the fried bread & lamb it is out of this world and I've never seen it anywhere else in town. Popular with foreigners and very clean so expect to pay more than your local Muslim dive.

I'm not sure if the user 'gourmet' even went to the same restaurant I've long enjoyed. I've always thought the restaurant was clean, especially compared to most Xinjiang restaurants. I wouldn't give the staff any awards for service, but any rough edges aren't enough to detract from the great food and pleasant atmosphere. This is the perfect place to take visitors or large groups of friends.

While one can easily miss the entrance, walk by two or three times without noticing, and can confuse the hell out of cab drivers if you're trying to get there, Crescent Moon is a great place to get your grub on. Anything that involves meat is a solid choice. Make sure you get the yogurt dip with your meal.

Worst restaurant I've ever been to in Beijing. 1. It's dirty... gross plates, dirty chopsticks, wet napkins and terrible smell. 2. shitty service, you can never get worse service in any corner of the world. The waitresses are like dead bodies moving around in their greasy outfits and never-washed hair. They put nasty dishes from other tables on yours while they are cleaning other tables and you are eating. They pretend to not being aware of their bad math on your bill which makes you pay a lot more than it should be. 3. Attitude. If you blame them for not doing things right, the owner has not spent a second understand the fact, but asking you not to come to their restaurant ever. Well, that's what I am gonna do, but also what all my friends will do, and ppl who read this review, I guess.

Having a wife from Xinjiang and having lived there for over a year, I can testify that this is probably the best Uyghur food in Beijing.
However the owner really is a certified asshole. Most recently, eating there with my wife, they served us jiachang mifan with cold rice and a hair in it. When the servers tried to take it back and tell the owner he tells them in Uyghur: "this isn't someone's home, this is a restaurant. you can't send back food!" (my wife teaches Uyghur so this screaming wasn't lost on us.) The servers are visibly afraid of him and started blaming each other for the problem. We argued but ultimately they wouldn't budge and made us pay for their mistake. Another time they tried to play games with the check and overcharged us requiring similar arguing. Hopefully the chef (abdul rahman) strikes out on his own and/or the owner gets hit by a bus. Such good food but such backward service.
