Sichuan Sizzle
This Sichuan chain is popular among locals and foreigners for its authentic tastes. The restaurant is well known for its poached fish in hot chili oil, or shuizhuyu (¥118/500g), which is served tender and juicy and soaked in chili peppers to give it the right amount of spice. Delivered in a deep wooden bowl, the poached bullfrog (¥98) is another house specialty. The meat literally falls off the bone and is properly flavored with majiao in Sichuan style. The savory spiced roast chicken (¥88) is a favorite among those who prefer less spicy dishes. Also try the fried cabbage with vermicelli (¥22) for a tasty vegetarian option.
