    City Weekend Says

The latest addition to their branches around the city, this restaurant serves up spicy escargots and a myriad of other Sichuanese dishes. Customers are known to come back for the punishing spiciness at the heart of this restaurant's fame. Expect reasonable prices and gracious service as well as long queues at dinnertime.

    City Weekend Review

    Spicy Kick

This restaurant is one of 13 branches in the capital. Their latest addition at Sanlitun’s Village boasts stylish design, excellent service and a few novel twists on classic dishes. We loved the spicy green beans (¥22) and a sweet, tangy barbecued squid (¥28). Our sizzling chicken with chili peppers (¥38) was flavorsome and nicely hot, although there could have been more meat and less bone—or just more of both. We couldn’t leave without trying the signature dish of mala snails (¥38). The chili packed a fierce heat, the Sichuan pepper did its duty, but the humble gastropods? Well, they don’t taste of much in a light French garlic sauce, so they predictably succumbed to the power of the formidable spices. Here, you’ll find reasonable Sichuanese at slightly upscale prices—they only serve imported foreign beer—come here for impressive style rather than revolutionary food.
