As the name suggests, this intimate restaurant serves up homey, simple Turkish fare. Order anything from lentil soup to the Sultan's delight that features an interesting combination of lamb stew and pureed eggplant. Vegetarians will also find delectable bites on the menu with the Dolma, a stuffed vegetable dish and the Merchmek Kofta.
I think it's the best Turkish restaurant in town so far. It's definitely a place-to-go for Turkish cuisine desirers. The environment is quite impressive. It's not luxury but cozy and warm actually. And the service is quite acceptable, for there is no obstacles at all to communicate in English.
Recommend dishes: Lentil Soup Sultan's delights (quite interesting combination of lamb stew and pureed eggplant) Roasted Seabass (my No.1 favorite) Dolma (stuffed vegetables) Adana Kebab Hummus (best hummus in town! must try) Acili Ezme (mashed tomato salad) Merchmek Kofta (vegetarian, never heard before, chef said it's very famous in Turkey) Icili Kofta (hard skin, delicious beef and walnuts inside, interesting)
We just had those dishes above, and some of them are first time to me and not usually found in other places. Another place for our crew to hangout with, haha! I would try their lamb rib next time for sure!
Turkish Delight
Flambé, the former Russian restaurant and bar on the popular Gongti stretch, is now home to a motherly Turkish chef. The interior of the new restaurant is simple and the menu short and modest. Making up our minds was easy. We started with the appetizer combo (¥48), a well portioned assortment of hummus, pickles and tabbouleh and acili ezme–finely diced tomatoes with herbs, spices and the zingy sensation of lemon juice. It was a platter of humble ingredients made tasty, although the hummus could do with a little more oil to smoothen it out.
The coban salad (¥22) of cubed cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and fresh pepper was good, but uneventful. Our main courses of roasted sea bass (¥68) and roasted half chicken served with chickpea rice (¥59) were executed with precision. Both dishes were perfect examples of simple ingredients made delicious, with just the right amount of seasoning and garnish. All in all, we find this place repeat worthy with its decent, friendly service and a fair menu.
