Divine vegetarian cuisine served in lovely surroundings run by genuine Buddhist monks make this place a clear favorite with Beijing's vegetarians. Try their house specialties of water-boiled "fish" and the stir-fried vegetables wrapped in lettuce leaves. The waitstaff speak excellent English, so feel free to seek out their recommendations.

It's not a dinner, it's an experience. The place decoration, ambiance, is as good as the food. All the dishes are really good and displayed like a gift of art to you. The service is amazingly good, and everything is consistent enough, that after 4 visits I've never been disappointed. And I'm not even vegan. One point though, the menu is kind of difficult to understand, each dish is like a poem in itself, but it's part of the experience.

Despite having a menu that seems to be written in some sort of code and a location that would be hard to find even with a GPS satellite, Pure Lotus is still, by far, the best veggie restaurant i have been to in Beijing.

Great atmosphere and even better handrolls!

A fantastic place: fancy setting, perfect foods (not only the meat imitations are convincing ...), and very friendly service. A must!!!

Excellent decor, food and service. Probably the best vegetarian restaurant in all my travels. I bring all my out of town guests here. The veg. spicy chicken is my favorite. Yes a bit pricey, but worth it for special occassions.

The one I go to is in the Lido Hotel (Level 3), and I cannot say enough good things about this place. Staff are great, every detail about the decor and presentation of this place is wonderful, and even the menus are so delightful, with creative and interesting names for all their dishes and beverages! The food is delicious and served relatively quickly. It can be expensive or modest depending on your menu choices, and I always leave feeling really healthy and serene - the atmosphere there is so relaxing and spiritual!

Have been only to their place at Lido. Perfect. My favourite restaurant in Beijing, and I'm not even a vegetarian. Great design, wonderful service, amazing food - you never walk out disappointed. Great for a mood fix.

An unsung hero. The review I arranged to be done couldn't be publish because they refused a photo shoot or any publicity for that matter. And mind, it was a great review - our find of the week. One of the best cheese fondue I've had. Best of all, It isn't even real cheese! I have yet to solve the mystery of this wonderful mock cheese, nonetheless this place deserves praise for being truly vegan-friendly.

You walk in and your hands are sprinkled with rose water. You've walked into a shangrila where the staff are badly outfitted, but you accept the corny details because the ambiance is calming, the food is deliciously vegetarian, you are tickled to enchantment by the poetry placed about the restaurant, your table, and in the menu. The menu like many contemporary restaurants in Beijing, is too large to comfortably hold and browse, and given two food menus with dish names that don't correlate, you soon forget about the trouble after you've been served your energizing beet root juice. Every dish is ostentatious, garnished and presented with the heart of an eight-year old making his mother breakfast on mother's day. Moderate to expensive, your wallet will feel lighter, but you will walk out feeling like a chubby monk as you are escorted out of the tofu-gluten heaven back to the streets of Beijing.

went here last nite. second time here. hard rain! we arrived there with wet hair, wet clothes and wet shoes. the fuwuyuans were so attentive by providing us napkins to dry our hair. they brought us to the table which i have reserved before and one fuwuyuan came with a heater. very good service throughout the dinner.

the place has been renovated since my last visit here. looks better now. not to cramped. good ambience.

the food. oh-so-great-it-makes-you-wow. literally. even the menu book makes you wow. one meter length, i guess. and thats still the beverages menu. i asked one fuwuyuan to help us order the food and we got a superb and creative dishes. one by one the dishes came in and each time me and my friends were wowed by the way they serve the dishes. its like ure looking at an haute couture show of vegetarian food. the taste were excellent as well. very creative.

definitely a good place to impress visitor. definitely will keep recommending this place. definitely will come back again.

I went to the one at Lido. It is one of the best restaurants in Beijing--and I'm not saying that just because I am vegetarian! :)

The atmosphere is really special and the service is amazing.

It's great for a date or a business meeting. Try one of the organic health drinks, yum!

If you can find this place and get a table then you are in for a treat.

The food is designed to look and taste like familiar meat or fish dishes except wihout using meat or fish. The presentation is totally innovative with the use of dry ice and amazing crockery. Of course the tastes are first class surprisingly to close to the dishes they mimic.

Equally original is the drinks menu which offers interesting combinations of fruit, vegetables and herbs designed to mend the body and soul.

If you are lucky to find the way to get to this place, you'll be totally amazed. Excellent indoor design, great atmosphere, innovative and extremely well presented food.

I hesitate to give 5 stars because I've been there only once, but I guess this restaurant will deserve to be my second 5-star restaurant in Beijing with Haiku.
