City Weekend Review

Natural Nirvana

For those in need of a break from indulgent holiday foods, hop in a cab and head to VeganHut. At this relaxing restaurant, you can treat yourself—and your body—to delicious fresh squeezed juices, Chinese and Western mock meat dishes, and even four flavors of soy ice cream. We began by quenching our thirst with freshly squeezed carrot juice (¥10). Other hits on the menu were the tofu hamburger (¥15) which retains a flavorful smoky grilled taste and the succulent and juicy soy-meat wrapped in pancakes (¥25). We were disappointed with the Korean pumpkin soup (¥8) that lacked flavor (the restaurant boasts using "less salt" and no MSG). All in all, this vegan eatery is a great place offering simple, healthy fare at very reasonable prices. With an ever-changing menu and attentive and friendly wait staff, this is the ideal spot to feast in 2009 if being healthier is your New Year’s resolution.
