This is the place for foreigners facing a certain calculus of dining decision-making: want Asian food, don't want to spend a lot of money, on Gulou Dongdajie. The papaya salad is a "no-no", but the spring rolls are decent and the pho will be exactly what you're after, but won't blow you away.

I completely agree with leemack's comment; the spring rolls and Pho here definitely hits the spot and cures that craving - perfect for hangovers too! I think as far as the dearth of Vietnamese cuisine in Beijing goes, this is best (so far) and the closest thing to that large cheap bowl of Pho I used to get back home!

I only went there one time, but I wasn't impressed. Food was just average. Service was very slow and not pro-active at all.

Price was very reasonable though.

If I want to get some decent Vietnamese food, then I go to Muse which deliver un-compromised food and service quality.

Perhaps the service is poor but the pho rice soup noodles are great and the Tom Yum Gong a.k.a. Thai spicy prawn soup is the closest I've tried in Beijing to what you find in Thailand.

This place is small and on Fri/Sat evening is often full. I go there a lot!

I first stumbled across this place over a year ago, travelling through China. I thought the fact that this had been my first proper meal in over three months might have unfairly biased my judgement of this place. But, after revisiting Pho just the other night, I was pleased to find that I was right all along, the food here really is good!

Loads of shrimp dishes, loads of flavours and now? The intent to return loads more!!
