While the ambiance in this little spot is wonderful, and the hidden location makes it more of a find, it was also the source of a horrific food poisoning incident that landed me in the hospital on an I.V. for an entire day, rendering me incapable of remembering if there was anything I liked about the food. So while my judgement might be a bit biased, the memory of that event has certainly dissuaded me from ever going back or recommending it to anyone.

Calm, relaxing location, with a weird hippie style interior. The rooftop is worth a visit when the windows are opened. The food was something between okay and great. I especially remember the juicy fruity chicken salad, yummy.

This is one of my favorite places to go. It's located in a hutong a little off the shore of houhai, which is (unfortunately) more and more turning into a tacky and loud strip. No name restaurant, however, is in a calm hutong and has an owner that is a master at minding details. The interior is very nice and keeps on developing. Especially check out their rooftop terrace which is an oasis, in winter as in summer. Also their Yunnan style food is good to great and the food good value. Definitely a place to go and savor!
