A cozy one-room Mongolian bar with friendly staff, GiYan's quaint charm is undeniable. For an authentic Mongolian experience, try Menggujiu (fermented mare’s milk and baijiu). On Fridays, “ma tou” and throat-singing performers liven up the crowd, but there's soothing folk music and enjoyable company every night.

Head north, past Lufthansa Centre and you'll see San Yuan Dong Qiao, drive past it (don't go over it) and take the first right turn and go all the way straight. Go pass an intersection and Guo Ji Xin Gan Xian is the building on the left.

A very small and cosy mongolian bar. Not overly crowded and is good for a relaxing evening with friends. Try the "Ma nai jiu" (horse milk alcohol). Its not that great for savouring but good for "gan bei" and it gets to your head pretty quickly.

If you go there when they've got the ma3 tou2 guy playing, it's totally awesome.

Its a lovely place with nice people... when you find it! Haha! Just be aware that it is on the 8th floor and before you step in you could think it is a normal office/apartment door. Some signpost would be helpful!

Mare’s Milk A-Go-Go
Like their ancestors before them, Mongolian entrepreneurs have been invading Beijing, sprouting up new bars and restaurants all across the capital. But Chinese and foreigners alike should not despair, these 21st-century Huns come in peace, bearing gifts no less. The latest addition is GiYan, a cosy one-room bar just beyond the Second Ring Road. Located on the eighth floor of a backstreet office building, it’s not the easiest place to find (look for a red lantern!), but once inside you are instantly treated like family by the friendly staff. Though the décor resembles something like a Mongolian tourist center, it only adds to GiYan’s quaint charm. The bar serves a standard set of beers (starting at ¥30) and cocktails (¥30-50), but those looking for a truly authentic Mongolian experience should try the “Menggu Jiu” (Sm ¥60; Lg ¥160), a sweet shot of fermented mare’s milk and baijiu that goes straight to the head. On Fridays, “ma tou” and throat-singing performers liven up the crowd, but on every other night, you can still look forward to an evening of soothing folk music and enjoyable company.
