This hidden whiskey lover's hideaway in Guomao has some expensive sips costing into three digits per glass, but the quality drops make it worth the trek. With friendly and attentive staff to boot, there's no reason not to check it out.
Whiskey Haven
Hidden behind a car park next to BTV, this bar is worth the trek. Enticing single malts line the wall behind the dark wood and cork bar, so settle into a leather chair and decide how to spend your dough. Whiskeys range from a mere ¥60 to ¥30,000+ for the more rare nips. Bartender Jerry is not only friendly and knowledgeable, but also mixes delicious cocktails, having worked at nearby Twilight. For those who aren’t connoisseurs, try a Special Old Fashioned, made with house made vanilla-infused whiskey (¥70) or a classic Dark & Stormy, made with Goslings dark rum (¥60). ■ Jo Greene
