Tucked behind Dongzhimen, this comfy little nook made a name off red wine, Italian food and Latin dancing. Embassy crowds come for the popular lasagna with the Swarovski wines, well-mixed cocktails and weekly tango parties held on the upstairs dance floor. Not into dancing? Then relax on the spacious outdoor patio.

Experience Review Being surrounded by Embassies, at least expected some level of English speaking staff. Not very impress as they could not guide me for directions in English... Being a Wine Bar, very dissapointing as they only had 1 Red & Rose by the glass & very small wine list. Should not have call it a wine bar. Food was very bland, had the Risotto Porchini Mushroom. Reasonable for lunch with comp salad & coffee that's about all that was good.

I checked the lunch buffet and it is not bad at all. Food is not amazingly prepared but it is for sure diverse - steaks, pizza, chicken wings, tortillas, smoked salmon, pastas, salads, fruits, etc. All this for 38 RMB. Staff speaks very poor English but for the buffet you don't really need to talk to them.

I love the place. It's quiet, peaceful and the service is great. The lunch buffet is a steal and they have added deliciousThai dishes to their dinner menu. The wines are all unique products of the Bordega Langes vineyards. On Thursday and Sunday the free Tango dancing starts at 9 pm on the second floor. Every Saturday there is a free Ballroom Dance starting at 8 pm. I should know ... I host the Saturday dance, which is sponsored by Beijing Ballroom.

directions Sino-Chu Wine House at 18 LiangMaHe NanLu (behind the Australian embassy). By car exit the 2nd Ring Road at DongZhiMenWai DaJie. Go east two long blocks (you'll see a "Pizza Hut" at the corner). Turn left (north) and then immediately make a right turn. At the end of the quiet, tree-lined street you'll see red and blue lights. This is the Sino-Chu Wine Bar. Their phone # is 8532 2418. (It's a 15-minute walk from the DongZhiMenWai subway stop.)
