It’s important to know that Acoustic House not only sits in the city that is infamous for being the cultural capital of China – Beijing – but right in the heart of its hottest cultural district - 798. 798 is the hot chic space of this generation’s, with numerous galleries and hosts high-level cultural activities.

The owner and founder of AH – ‘Godfather of Chinese pop music’ - Jonathan Lee, knows the kind of performers and listeners he wants in AH. After decades in the pop music industry, having multiple Platinum CD Sales, and becoming the most influential Chinese singer-songwriter, he founded the music production company - Promise Productions, and his handmade acoustic guitar label – Leeguitars. Lee then set out to create a stage for his fellow musicians to enjoy. For them he demands quality. The quality of the set up that has been brought on to this stage, serving only an audience of 50 - the size we consider perfect for the sharing to be intimate and personal, rises the bar and has never been seen in any other ‘live houses’ in China. AH is selective with its performers, maintaining our credibility with our members, but that is not to say we have limited choices. Professional musicians of many different genres has been welcomed here - singer-songwriters, major Mandarin pop stars, well-acclaimed jazz musicians - to list a few. Already, AH has been recognized as the unpretentious elite cultural private club.

When introducing AH, we’ll begin by admitting that AH is a platform set up by music lovers, for music lovers. It is dedicated to music, set out to share appreciation, and to promote the art of living. It is the AH’s goal to provide a homey space where music will be shared with respect and dignity.

With this in mind, it will not come as a surprise when one discovers that AH was put together, piece by piece, by passionate and professional musicians. Never before had China seen the kind of selectiveness that AH bears. We are selective of equipments, instruments, sound systems, and finally, performers and audiences as well. AH’s set up is of studio quality, not only ready for live performances but also for recording. In fact, AH has produced mini concerts with live recordings that is of studio quality and was ready for release with little post-production needed.

What is on the menu, besides music, is just as significant and selective here at AH, as it brings to the table some real flavors. The wine and dining at AH is carefully catered to compliment the whole experience of the night. During the nights of AH Selected Performances, for example, the menu will change according to the cultural background of the performers.

AH has even been a platform for musicians and people in the music industry to host regular ‘salons’ sessions, where 50 people share their thoughts and questions on music making.

AH Owner – Jonathan Lee

Being an influential icon of the Chinese pop music culture, Lee has not only made himself known as a successful and respected singer-songwriter and record producer, but also a passionate musician who strictly demands for quality. After spending decades in studios and on stage, Lee then decided to solely focus on one of the greatest loves of his life – guitars.

Lee persistently pursued his learning of the making of acoustic guitars and in 2002 founded his own guitar production line - ‘Leeguitars’. The brand strives to produce high quality in the hopes of sharing a better understanding and greater use of acoustic guitars with other enthusiasts. Many musicians and performers had recognized its value and support has been well received.

By all means Lee is a music maker, and even more so he’s a music lover.

‘I want to furnish a space where musicians and theirs songs can be liberated recklessly. I want to provide a space where listeners and their hearts can be open and receptive. I do this, because I love music. And I love music lovers. Over the past few decades, my songs may have touched tens of thousands of people’s hearts, but at this moment, my heart is consumed by how to satisfy an audience of fifty.
