Featuring an eclectic mix of live music that draws scenesters from every corner of the capital, this no-nonsense rock club is run by music lovers for music lovers. What it lacks in flair, it makes up for in heart. Though the drinks are nothing special, D-22's tight community and commitment to local music doubtlessly are.

Check the labels if the drinks are original, before you gulp. Best is order here for the whole bottle of vodka or whatever drink , check if its original ,then sit down to drink. there is a deent chinese crowd and foreign young students, but the overall experience is far from satisfactory.

nice bands. but ridiculous hot inside. do they think not having an A.C. is cool? and the draught beer wont help you cool down...

D-22
D-22 is a no frills punk rock club, complete with grotty, graffiti covered bathrooms, a dingy, slightly underwhelming bar and spartan (read: uncomfortable) seating.
What D-22 lacks in aesthetic appeal, however, the club makes up for with Beijing’s best acoustics and regular gigs showcasing bands ranging from post-rock to punk.
Since opening in 2006, D-22 has consistently been Beijing’s most reliable and unique live music venue.

I have been here about before the olympics for a party thrown by a friend we just loved the band.It was popular band from Korea and we danced till 5am.
Last week we were there but no crowd even on the saturday , perhaps the global meltdon , people are saving money ! But at 1 am there was a crowd, but not that great feeling with the music. The drinks are fine , the small eats perfect and the feeling is charged if there is a crowd. I love being here . They could keep the place a more cleaner .

Still going strong. Went there on a random saturday night and caught three cool bands. Best of all the scene has really matured out there. It's not just hipster wanna-be's snorting whippets in the bathroom. Now it's a very mixed crowd, expat and local, young and slightly older. Smoky as hell though. Shou bu liao!

I hear that there will be no more live music here until after the olympics. is that true? A lot of other establishments frequented by foreigners are either getting shut down or having live music banned...

...was glad that i finally found a home in beijing. this club is not really big - but very nice crowd, staff and cheap alcohol. ... ah, and good music of course.

Mostly expat student crowd. Standard mix of obnoxious dive-bar types and hipsters.
But I love it. Nice staff, decent booze selection, fun bands.

This is for sure one of the best punk place available in Beijing. I have been thrown out by the sound guy twice at the same night, it was fun!

Came here three times. 1st time the place was so packed and hot that I couldn't breath. Everyone had a cigarette and even through I'm a smoker I was dying after thirty minutes. 2nd time was college bands. I think I've heard some of the most atrocious music in my life that night. 3rd time it was so super empty that it was actually kinda pleasant if not for the sad looks on the faces of the two bands that played to practically no one. It's a college bar, what can I say.
