Second installment in the Banana clubbing franchise, this glitzy dance club attracts a predominantly Chinese crowd with a techno and hard house music policy. Foreigners show up for the big name DJs who regularly stop in. With a small dance floor dotted with tables, the premium here is on shoehorning in as many clubbers as possible.

Whenever I am out with my Chinese friends and we go 'clubbing', we always seem to end up at Coco Banana. Why is that? Very seldom to BabyFace or Angel. Just Coco. I guess it says something about Coco's appeal to the Chinese clubber. And its true. It is always packed and extremely popular, and as it goes for Chinese clubs, the service is pretty good. The music is alright as well, as long as you're expecting Chinese club music (I'll leave explaining Chinese club music for another entry, or, just go to a club yourself and find out). I use Coco Banana as my default Chinese club destination when showing new-comers to China what the club scene is like. They always seem to get mesmerized by the firey-glittered show the bartenders put on while dancing on the bar tops.

Another mega-club... Problem though is that this doesn't feel like a mega-club. Simply put, Coco banana is too small. There is virtually no dancefloor here! This is of course completely outrageous, but whatever. The decor is standard, there is cover and there are a lot of fake people here. If you like a mega-club without a dancefloor, you like fake-people and you enjoy paying cover charge, Coco Banana is for you. For everyone else, go somewhere else.
