This intimate club in the basement of the Opposite House is antithetical to every hotel bar expectation: The cocktails are delectably innovative (and worth their upmarket prices), DJs throw hip tech and mashups, the waitstaff keep their piecings in, and the tables are crowded with far more hip locals than itinerant travelers.

Punk is our pulsating, provocative late night bar and club. Its where luxury goes underground. From the latest dance beats to classic punk rock mixes, it's all about the sounds. And it's where you'll catch DJs from Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and all around the region playing the sets that made their names.

punk bar, tucked in the basement of the opposite house, is one of the most reliable late nite spots in Beijing. Tuesdays, Friday, Sunday evenings, there is always a midnight crowd. I order the simple gin-n-tonic and they always make it deliciously sour. I was also pretty surprised to get in on the 2-4-1 deal on Friday night (ladies nite?). The decor is edgy modern and is not too big, so it still retains a hidden-secret/intimate vibe. If you are a roaming bar type, like me, try mesh first for a mellow start to the evening (on the first floor of the opposite house) and then move onto punk for a more rocker feel.

I was disappointed by the drinks at Punk. I tried both kinds of Sidecars (including Punk's special pear and cider version), and both turned out to be surprisingly average. The Mojito was also a bust as well. For all the enjoyment I had at Punk, including an amazing bar setup and atmosphere, it just seems there are a dozen other bars in Beijing that mix their drinks a little bit better.

Love this place. On a Friday night it was PACKED with a great crowd and flowing drinks. I think it was before midnight there's a buy one get one free deal. The Apple Crumble is delicious, as was the lime something, and the lychee martini... Went back on a Saturday night and it was less lively. Still had people, but not packed like the night before.

Love it!! Its like an adults playground! Music is good - i llloooovveee the 'apple crumble' drink (have no idea whats in it, think vodka and apple juice are the main ingredients but how do they get the cruble flavour??!!) Gets pretty full and sweaty on a friday and saturday night! The bar staff are so friendly and are ready with an apple cumble everytime i walk in!

Nice, upscale place to enjoy a cocktail and party in the basement of the hyper-futuristic Opposite House.

What You Lookin’ at … Punk?
This intimate club in the basement of the Opposite House pulses with beats from cutting-edge local DJs, with a few names from Shanghai and Hong Kong stopping in from time to time. Pulling in far more cool locals than itinerant business travelers, Punk is antithetical to every expectation one would have about a hotel bar: The cocktails are innovative, the DJs throw hip electro and mashups, and the waitstaff don’t take their piercings out before tying on their aprons. The jasmine ice tea (YY70), a delightful mix of vodka, whisky and jasmine tea with cinnamon stick garnish, and the shizo leaf cocktail (YY70) from the neighboring restaurant, BEI, are two of the most innovative new drinks on Beijing’s cocktail scene. Mixers (YY50) are made with quality alcohol to international standards, and bottle service is available as well. With the opening of The Village at Sanltiun, the area’s shopping and dining venues are among the city’s most gorgeous, Punk helps complete the picture for the club and bar scene.
