Check your coat and head upstairs into this dress-to-impress club decked out like an old opium den and featuring some of Beijing’s best house music. Touch on the first floor gives the crowd more room to see and be seen, the terrace above is as popular as ever while the exclusive VIP room draws in the high rollers.

Named for the fictional Hong Kong hooker who falls for a much older William Holden (ironic given the current dynamic of the bar), this is the see-and-be-seen venue for nouveau-riche Chinese and newly arrived expatriates. DJs so cool it hurts play music for head-bobbers in the main room, and there's a Ming-style canopy bed next to the bar where the exhibitionists sit. Get there early to stake out one of the row of semi-private alcoves to the side, luridly lit and luxuriously outfitted with plush couches covered in brocaded pillows. The rooftop seating makes for a cool getaway during summer months.

DON'T GO THERE! The boys are very rude and arrogant. You will be supervised by the guys all the time. You have to pay 1200 Yuan (about 140 EURO) getting a seat. What a pity! We did that.  Me, my husband and two Chinese friends were there during Chinese New Year. After a while dancing I putted my high heel boots off because they hurt me and too warm. The guy was coming promptly to me and commanded me unkindly to put on the shoes. I went to our place, where we paid for 1200 Yuan. A few minutes later before I realized what’s happed, I was packed extremely abrasively by two guys and we leave this place, will never come back here again. Beijing has a lot of nice clubs, where they treat customers nice and correct: rolling stone, Babyface,….DON NOT GO THERE.

Seeing the last comment has prompted me to re-post on this place. I've been going to Suzie Wong on and off for the past 18 months and while back then I saw it as one of those popular-for-no-particular-reason clubs, during the last 3 or 4 months I have noticed huge improvements in both the service and in the music. Last night's "Open House" party was a blast. While it was packed with people, our table was served with amazing speed and efficiency. Secondly, the music was astonishingly good. If they keep this going, Beijing can claim to have a truly World-class club on its hands. Keep up the good work guys!

I had two most amazing night there, the last one is sooo great that I don't think any unknown experience would catch up, so I might as well hang in other bars before I'm ready to return. I have to mention the dancing floor, there is something about the size, it shouldn't be too big that you can't tell and don't care who is dacing around you, and it shouldn't be too small either that you couldn't move your hips. Susie wong got the size just right. And The DJ is Great!!! I recomment you go try.

one of my least favorite places to find myself in beijing. The music is terrible. The people are Shanghai wanna be expat douches. the door staff are insufferable. if it weren;t so popular i wouldn;t even bother to leave a comment.

Suzie Wong’s is Beijing’s original high-rolling, champagne-swilling, model-grinding den of iniquity; a celebration of vanity if you will. Its door policy is arbitrary, for which it makes no apologies, and it’s shameless in it’s exploitation of beautiful people dancing to sexy music whilst flashing their cash. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but if you think your ego can handle it you will undoubtedly have one of the best nights out that Beijing can offer.

Yeah there's an entrance fee, but it's the only place that actually has people! In fact it has a lot of expats, probably half the people there, so if that's what you're up for mingling with this is where to start off.

I agree, the door staff are very rude, and from looking around I don't understand why so many people go to Suzi Wong. Decor looks tired and dated and the music was dreadful the night I was there.

Seems the place hasn't improved in over a year - also don't give your mobile number to get a membership card - they will spam SMS you and sell your number to other clubs.

Only one advise: DON'T GO THERE! You will be abused by a guy who thinks he's the Emporor af China, just because he's got the job of ripping you of 50RMB when entering this place. Never met such a person in Beijing nightlife before - abused my foreign friends and had it not been for my girlfriend, I had turned around immidiately. Instead we spend 30 minutes in a place not so full but with music so loud, you had your jacket blown of and hearing damage ensured. If you want to be insulted, go there, otherwise find one of the other nice places in Beijing, where they treat customers nice and correct - they don't seem to understand the concept of being a friendly and correct host.

I must add a correction to my review above. having spoken to my friend, it appears that she was actually in the bar with friends. After her friends left, she was approached by the thug Jiang Wei Hua, verbally abused and told to leave. It would seem she was treated this way for no other reason than the fact that she was a single Chinese lady. Why do people bother to frequent such disgusting establishments?

On Saturday 1 November, a very dear lady friend of mine went to this establishment to meet a friend who was already there. On arrival she was asked if she was a member (who would want to be a member of such a crass and pretentious dive?). She said no and was told that she could therefore not enter. Strange when plenty of non-members are allowed entry. The individual who was refusing her entry claimed to be the "boss"of the establishment. He then subjected her to a tirade of verbal abuse that reduced her to tears for the whole of Sunday. I have still not been able to extract from her the extent of this abuse as she is too distraught to say. The thug who administered this abuse claims to be from Hong Kong and goes by the name of Jiang Wei Hua. He should be fired, if at all possible and the club should be ashamed that it condones such behavior by members of its staff.

Lame, lame, lame. Went there Saturday night and the music was horrible. It was pretty empty and most of the people I met had just arrived in Beijing that day. Also, lots more guys than girls, which usually is okay by me, but not when it's as lopsided as it was here.

Haven't been to SZ's in quite some time, but ended up making a stop there on Friday night. Observed: a fight between a foreign guy and a chinese girl, old foreign guys sitting alone staring balefully at whatever piece of flesh wandered past, a group of three Chinese girls on the patio who were so effing loud, they drowned out everything with their shrillness, upstairs room practically empty, Touch club full, music--aside from a few decent tracks from Chozie, it was pretty boring stuff.

Great Club, beautiful people, international standard. One of the best club to me!

Not a good place - I will not patronize a place when I find my local friends being refused entry, they arrived first, and told by the doorman that they can only come in with me, a white male... truth is, they buy more expensive drinks than I do! So I bring my RMB to other places, who are less cramped and have less racist door policies.

I have been there many times, great place, good crowd. I think the women if really being beaten up, she shouid go to report to the police right the way. If this club is that shit, why they can last till today and remain so hot. Think it twice and check it out with your eyes not by rumours!
