Wishing to address "character education," Karyn Robarts opened the first FLH in 2002 and developed a unique virtues-based curriculum integrated into a Montessori program. The vision of TFLH is for "each child, parent and teacher to be dedicated to acquiring skills and qualities through which they may serve and enrich their family, their community, their nation, and all of humanity", and TFLH believes that both academic knowledge and character education are essential for the child. The preschool has a toddler(1.5-3 years old) and primary (3-6 year old) program, and Montessori-trained foreign and Chinese teachers support the bilingual environment. Extracurricular activities include yoga, dance, ballet, art and music. The three-story school facilities include a multi-purpose room, art room, outdoor garden and play area, and library meeting room.
