Joy City, the newest to Xidan, completely opens on February 1, beat all the other old malls in size and concept. The13 storey new mall comes equipped with world’s longest escalator, the largest digital cinema in China with totally 13 screens, and the largest open cosmetic shop in Beijing. Zara opens its second shop there, so does FAB, and Uniqlo, Next, Motivi, and Honeys appear in Beijing for the first time.

Cool and HUGE mall. It almost feel like you're going hiking on a mountain, climbing the escalators higher and higher up until you hit the cinemas at the "peak".
They have the biggest Moji shop I've seen in Beijing. Not quite as big as the ones in HK, but big enough to carry more than just clothing.

Joy City comes just in time. I was very excited after shopping there, having become overly familiar with the crowed and old fashioned Zhouyou, Juntai and other retail markets in Xidan for so many years. It’s an amazing building, warped with millions of colorful lights when I arrived in the evening. I really wanted to be patient and read the long list of shop names to find out my favorite brands, but it’s hard stay still. The spacious mall and nice decoration make you not only want to shop, but also explore and relax. The mall has the biggest ZARA in Beijing, the first MUJI in Beijing, and the longest escalator in Beijing, which makes you dizzy when you ride it from F1 to F8. I have no idea what the old Xidan malls will do as a countermeasure, but the competition is good news for shoppers!

Truly massive mall, great stores covering a range of styles and price ranges, fun stuff. Only problem is that the layout is a little... wierd. It almost seems like everything switches at about the 5th or 6th floor so escalators and elevators just kind of stop at that point, unless you find the ones that don't. That being said, there's a lot of maps and signage near all the escalators and elevators, so it's a lot easier to find your way around than it could be. One of the best malls I've been in in Beijing.
