City Weekend
says

Encompassing 40,000 square meters, it is the largest outdoor square in the world and is spiritually and literally the heart of the city. The square itself contains the Meridian Gate (entrance to the Forbidden City) to the north, Great Hall of the People to the west, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall to the south, China National Museum to the east and Monument to the People's Heroes at the center. Be sure to catch the flag raising and lowering ceremony at dawn and dusk.

Try flying a kite at the world's biggest square with "plain-clothes" police around the area...I enjoyed the feeling...tense (due to tight security) yet relax cos the square is sooo huge...I really cannot find words to describe the feeling...feel it yourself when u are there. PS: Flag raising ceremony do not really attract me... but this is a must go place when u are in Beijing-Landmark of Beijing (if not is like u have never been to Beijing without stopping by here)
