I'm Ken Wiland, the founder of "Beijing Ballroom."
What do I think about this city? Well, first of all, I think that native Beijingers are just about the friendliest big-city people in the world.
I love how they are so laid-back. They don't judge people by how much money they make. They choose their friends carefully. They value their free time. In short, they live their lives just like they ride their bicycles. I've only been here two years, but I feel like an old retired Beijinger -- I just want to enjoy my life here and watch and smile as the world goes by.
Of course Beijing is a tough city if you're broke or an immigrant worker. For Westerners living here there are all the normal temptations and inconveniences of life in China. But all of us -- young, old, native Beijinger, Chinese immigrant worker and expat -- feel the excitement of living in this great city.
One final thing I love about Beijing is how so many ordinary citizens use its parks for dancing. Granted, there are not many elegant places here where you can go dancing to Western music -- but that's why I founded "Beijing Ballroom"!
