Though they still haven't released a full album, Pet Conspiracy regularly sells out its epic performances. Busloads of fans pack into Yugong Yishan each month to check out the Conspiracy's bizarre electro-punk-performance art.

Beijing's durties blues band draws a fun crowd wherever they play. Fronted by Dez--massive beard and bald pate--these are the closest thing you'll get to a rowdy roadhouse atmosphere. They play some covers but have also released an EP of originals.

Having captured international headlines and rocked it with Sonic Youth, the Cars continue to blow away Beijing audiences with their noisy live shows—not to mention two brilliant albums.

Having released one of the most acclaimed Beijing indie albums of last year, The Gar are also behemoths of rock on stage. Frontman Pan is an indie poet who isn't afraid of melding poetic visions of Beijing with intelligent pop hooks.

Beijing's one and only rockabilly band regularly tears it up around town. Fronted by one of Beijing's coolest rock chicks--Dizzy Hemmy, the Hellcats might be the most fun live band in Beijing. They are the favored band for all of Beijing's swingers.

Folk music certainly has its fans in Beijing, but not until The Redbucks got together did we have true, down-home bluegrass. Singer-guitarist Daisy Sweetgrass is simply brilliant.
