Classier than many hot pot joints, this restaurant features a spacious dining room of sweaty, red-faced patrons dipping heartily into the delicious sesame sauce (the recipe is a closely guarded secret). It's one of the cleaner mutton hot pot joints in town, though you'll have to ignore the surly service and noisy neighbors.

Housed in one of the most stunning buildings in Beijing, this chic venue offers modern Anhui and Sichuan cuisine, creative cocktails and a view of the Gongti pond. The creatively presented (although somewhat pricey) food doesn't live up to the restaurant's gorgeous interior. Nonetheless, still a good place to impress visiting guests. This restaurant is also part of the Italian slow food movement supporting organic produce.

The rich ambiance and decorator's eye for detail overshadows the food at this fancy restaurant. One of the few restaurants opened to satiate Beijing's increasingly affluent diners, the cuisine is certainly above average, with a particularly good beef carpaccio and lime teriyaki appetizer.
