Our crusade throu resturants and watering holes in GZ continues. Last night I wanted to try the 1920. I wasnt very impressed when I arrived there, thought they could have done a bit better and Bavarian with the decoration. However, even if decoration is important I wasnt there for that, I was there for some German food. And was I delighted when the drink list and food menu came. All the German goodies plus some "locally adapted" dishes that was possible to find, all at very reasonable prices. The Weisbier was farily cheap as well, positive suprise. Me and my wife shared a plate of cold cuts, and for main she had the Schnitzel and I had the Sausage platter (asked for a change of the red cabbage to sauerkraut, no problem with that easy done). When the main food arrived I have to say the portions was large enough to feed any American:-). It was tasty, looked nice and not expensive at all. After I finished my plate I felt like a beached Whale, so full I couldnt move. A very good thing !. This place I can gladly recomend to anyone who wanna have a taste of German food.

Situated on the Pearl Riverfront, 1920 is well-placed for a good afternoon cuppa as well as for chilling out on a sunny afternoon. They’ve got a good variety of beers on tap, well recommend the Paulaner, well worth it for RMB32.00 for a pint.
