3 Cocktails To Try at St. Regis Bar

Inventive drinks at this snazzy hotel bar

There’s a revival of hotel bars of late, and each one following setting higher standards to rival some of the city’s best free standing establishments. One of these is the St. Regis Bar, located adjacent to the luxury hotel’s lobby in the heart of Jing’an.

It’s a snazzy spot befitting of the St. Regis brand, exuding sophistication and charm. The main room is grand with a captivating triple-heighted ceiling, the space dressed in luxury-chic décor of royal-red leather couches, thick carpeting, heavy dark jade drapes and showcased artwork. A champagne bar takes up the second floor, joined with a stage for live music.

Their cocktails are just as inventive as some of the best bars in town, curated by barman Rogelino Wu, previously of the now-shuttered La Vida. He puts a sufficient dose of flair into his creations. One thing is certain—you won’t forget these cocktails if you tried them.

Don’t let the initial sticker shock of the St. Antares (RMB158) jar your spirits—it’s a two-part cocktail, so you’re essentially getting two drinks. The first is a fruity base with tart overtones that takes fig-infused vodka, Cointreau, lemon juice and rose syrup, and muddles it with red dragon fruit for a bright pink hue. The second mix is stronger with a peaty orange-infused whisky balanced out with fresh lemon juice, macadamia syrup and garnished with saffron.

Then, there’s Blackout (RMB138), a creamy drink with a Mescal Blanco wine base beefed up with scotch and flavored with black sesame paste, cream and caraway syrup. Oreo cookie powder is dusted over the foam top, creating a yin-yang symbol for effect.

Try also the Bermuda Rim (RMB138). They take rosemary-infused rum and St. Germain elderflower liqueur, and shake it with it with fresh pineapple juice, lemon juice and black pepper syrup. A final touch of basil and peppermint smoke complete the stimulating drink.
