Alan Wong's Has Closed

American restaurant Alan Wong's at Shanghai Centre has closed

American restaurant Alan Wong's has closed.

Alan Wong's, a high-end American restaurant specializing in Hawaiian cuisine created by American celebrity chef Alan Wong closed its doors on December 25, according to a notice sent out today by "Tama Food International". It seemed like the closure was decided in a hurry, reflected in the notice that reads "Alan Wang's".

Alan Wong's was a highly anticipated opening but it failed to impress: stiff prices for very little, unimaginative signatures like "Da Bag" plucked from the original Hawaii-based restaurant, and a space with dated decor.

Shanghai Centre's upper floors have never been kind to F&B, though. Here's to hoping something worthwhile takes over the space, lest that state-of-the-art open kitchen goes to waste.
