Our running list of all the Christmas markets in town


Is it too early to start talking about Christmas? Never. Shanghai definitely agrees, Christmas markets are already starting to crop up here and there. Keep an eye on this list, we'll be updating it as more and more pop up in our radar.


Christmas Designer Market at Shanghai Centre

Christmas Designer Market at Shanghai Centre

Where: Shanghai Centre, 1376 Nanjing Xi Lu (near Xikang Lu) 南京西路1376号 (近西康路)

When: Thu Nov. 16, 10am-5pm

Shanghai Centre is getting into the Christmas spirit early with their Christmas Designer Market. Over 50 designers will be present at the event; expect popular brands like Pinyin Press, Soapnut Republic, AWU Studio and Okra. It's a good opportunity to start crossing names off your shopping lists.


Concordia Annual PSO Christmas Bazaar

Concordia's Annual PSO Christmas Bazaar

Where: Concordia International School, 999 Mingyue Lu (near Huangyang Lu) 明月路999号 (近黄杨路)

When: Sat Nov. 18, 10am-4pm

Concordia's annual PSO Christmas Bazaar transforms their Phoenix Common area into a holiday shopping paradise. Browse through a varied and unique selection that spans 150 local and expat vendors. There'll also be opportunities to snap a selfie with Santa himself.


RSC Christmas Market at Marriott Shanghai City Centre

RCS Christmas Market at Marriott City Centre

Where: Shanghai Marriott City Centre, 555 Xizang Zhong Lu (near Fenyang Lu) 西藏中路555号 (近汾阳路)

When: Fri Nov. 24 (1pm-9pm) & Sat Nov. 25 (10am-6pm)

The Rotary Club of Shanghai, together with the Shanghai Marriott Hotel City Centre, invites you to their Holiday Market. Expect traditional booths displaying a scrumptious selection of seasonal treats. Santa is also scheduled for a visit or two. Free entrance.


The Pearl French Christmas Market

The Pearl's French Christmas Market

Where: The Pearl, 471 Zhapu Lu (near Wujin Lu) 乍浦路471号 (近武进路)

When: Sat-Sun Nov. 25-26, 12pm-8pm

How Much: RMB20, free entry for children 5-years and under

The Pearl hosts the third edition of their annual French Christmas Market. Decked out in full Parisian theme, the two-day event welcomes 40 vendors peddling a variety of unique, handmade products alongside French specialties like traditional hot wine and foie gras. Expect live music and entertainment all day. Le Père Noël will be making an appearance too. RMB20 at the door, children under five years enter for free.

Where: Paulaner Expo, 555 Shibo Dadao (near Xizang Nan Lu) 世博大道555号 (近西藏南路)

When: Fri-Sun, Dec. 1-3, 3pm-9pm

How Much: RMB30, free entry for children 10-years and under

Shanghai's longest-running annual Christmas market is back once more. As always, the Christkindlmarkt will be hosted at Paulaner Brauhau's Expo location, whose spacious garden will welcome 70 traditionally-decorated wooden huts. Expect all sorts of seasonal delights like sizzling sausages, spiced mulled wine, German gingerbread, sugar-roasted almonds and more. There will be real Christmas trees too, along with wreaths, ornamets and decorations for sale, alongside artisanal produce and handicrafts. It's RMB30 per person, free entry for children under ten.

Where: Zeitgeist, 537 Haifang Lu (near Xikang Lu) 海防路537号 (近西康路)

When: Fri-Sun, Dec. 1-3 & Dec. 8-17 (Weekdays 5pm-9pm, weekends 12pm-9pm)

How Much: Free entry on weekdays, RMB50 on weekends

Zeitgeist plays host to a traditional German Christkindlmarkt that runs on Dec. 1-3, then Dec. 8-17. There'll be traditional seasonal favorites like glühwein and gingerbread alongside regional specialties from Germany, so come with an empty stomach. RMB50 will buy you entrance and one mulled wine or punch on the weekends (12pm-9pm); free entry on weekdays (5pm-9pm).


Dulwich College Winter Fair

Dulwich College Winter Fair

Where: Dulwich College Shanghai, 266 Lan'an Lu (near Mingyue Lu) 蓝桉路266号 (近明月路)

When: Sat Dec. 2, 10:30am-4pm

Dulwich College's Winter Fair promises a variety of entertainment and activities to go along with food & beverage booths, as well as plenty of vendors touting seasonal trinkets.


NAIS Pudong German Christmas Market

NAIS Pudong German Christmas Market

Where: NAIS Pudong, 2888 Junmin Lu (near Henghe Zhong Lu) 军民公路2888号 (近恒和中路)

When: Fri Dec. 8, 5:30pm-8:30pm

Nord Anglia International School's Pudong Campus hosts a fabulous German Christmas Market that pulls out all the stops. The market will include a range of activities designed for children, the ever-popular Santa's grotto, music, a shopping area, food & drinks booths, and a charity raffle. All proceeds
