Just as you were getting over Shanghai Fashion Week, a creative collective of directors, producers and stylists are debuting their latest concept— a weekend of fashion events, music and color. They’re calling it Shanghai Black Fashion week (SBFW). Slated for November 17 and 18, SBFW is an inclusive fashion event aimed at showcasing diverse, underground culture, featuring 11 amateur and professional Shanghai-based designers.
Tickets for the event are divided into three different sets: Friday afternoon, Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. Both days begin with educational seminars (RMB50) and a 9am trade show. Friday tickets are RMB288 (student) and RMB488 (regular) and include all five fashion shows, a cocktail party, drink tickets, performances, free entrance to the official after-party and drink vouchers at Empire. Both Saturday afternoon (RMB288-RMB388) and night (RMB388 student-RMB588) sets include access to three fashion shows, a cocktail party, drink tickets, performances and entrance to the official after party at M1NT. If you're a fashionista and don't want to miss out on any of the action, you can buy the Saturday full day pass with free flow alcohol (RMB888) or the Bronze (RMB988), Silver (RMB1288), or Gold (RMB1488) packages which grant you access to a larger number of activities, shows and events across both days.
While Saturday afternoon’s show will feature an array of professional and novice designers, Saturday night will showcase more established works including those from headline designer and founder of Bespoke clothing brand Brush&Saccy, Benjamin Kontoh. More brands and designers to look out for include Melissa Hyatt’s Naloveked, Katong and Karen—the guys behind Eggzegnitive Rob, Francisco Bilendo founder of Golflines, Francis Mulamba of Humblekloud, and Sheila Boaduwaa Yeboah of Naya Fashion.
A collaboration between TV producer Hu John, Bespoke stylist and SBFW headliner Kontoh, engineer Kimberley Will and event planners Qian Tianyi and TaVanni Singleton has allowed the fruition of the SHBW debut. Expect two days packed with fashion, seminars and parties. Tickets available here.
