The New Set Menu at Japanese Restaurant Uo Kura

A seven-course meal that highlights the best of Uo Kura

Japanese restaurant Uo Kura has long since been the go-to option in the Xintiandi neighborhood. Tucked away in Sinan Mansions, the upscale restaurant maintains professional chef consultants, who fly in on a regular basis from Japan to ensure the quality of Uo Kura is well kept, which includes securing the highest quality of fresh seafood.

Uo Kura Sinan Mansions is made up of mostly semi-private dining rooms, which are plentiful and suitable for either two or up to 12 guests. There is also a long sushi bar for communal seating.

Connoisseurs may be well suited to order a la carte, but if it is variety you’re looking for, then try Uo Kura’s new set menu RMB650, a seven-course meal that highlights the best they have to offer.

Here’s what you can expect from their seven-course menu:

The meal starts off with an appetizer platter. It features a seasonal selection of seafood from mackerel to scallop, and from foie gras to fruit salad.

Next is a winter warming soup. The clear soup uses earthy matsutake and fish for a base, making it a light pour that’s rich in flavor. It’s served with a tea cup, poured over a lime wedge.

Following is the sashimi of the day, featuring three cuts of fresh fish, served over ice. These cuts can range from tuna, salmon, skipjack to scallop. The selection depends on the freshest ingredients available.

The meal then moves onto hot dishes, starting with a serving of grilled items. Grilled shrimp and salmon are served alongside grilled vegetables, smoke infused with herbs.

Then, a personal pot of sukiyaki is served. Generous slices of Wagyu beef and a mix of green vegetables, mushrooms, Chinese cabbage, tofu, and glass noodles are served alongside a sweet and savory broth to be cooked at your table.

The final main course is a rice dish, served wrapped in a bamboo leaf. It takes eel, salmon roe, shredded egg, vegetables, and multiple varieties of rice, compressing it and wrapping it together in one comforting bundle. It ends with a dessert.

Visit Uo Kura today to try the new set menu for only RMB650.
