Public service announcement: city officials will be putting out rat poison starting today, so keep a close eye on your pets folks.
The city's annual rat extermination period is taking place from today Nov. 1 to Nov. 10. Rodent control measures will be carried out in areas prone to rats, like near residential neighborhoods, F&B clusters and large supermarkets.
The posion used is an anticoagulant rodenticide—a mild, slow-killing poison that will require more than one application for successful termination. The posion is less harmful to humans.
Residents are advised to keep a careful eye on children and pets so as to prevent accidental ingestation. If that occurs, residents should head to the nearest hospital as soon as possible for treatment and a shot of vitamin K which is effective as an antidote.
