Shanghaiist Is Back Up and Running

Pending an official statement

Shanghaiist's website is back up and running.

The abrupt shut down of popular news site Shanghaiist yesterday shook readers of the site and China watchers across the world. But it looks like Shanghaiist has quickly resolved the situation and the site is now back online, with a header stating "DNAinfo has closed." It redirects to the letter released by their Founder and CEO, the very same letter that was stamped across the site yesterday.

The latest article was published on Shanghaiist early this morning at 1:30am. The website still requires a VPN, a new restriction that came about only a few months back.

We're still waiting for an official statement.
