One of the most innovative Asian emcees currently active, Shing02 raps fluently in both Japanese and English about issues from racism to education, which are laid over a soulful blend of jazz and hip-hop. Emma Pollock is the former frontwoman of The Delgados, an influential and critically acclaimed Scottish shoegazing band from the late '90s. We interviewed her here. Factory 54 amps up its attempts at international bookings with a set by Philadephia-based DJ Nigel Richards. Normally dealing in tribal and dark tech-house, he'll dabble instead in old school club tracks and "ravey-gravy house beats" to suit Factory 54's Warhol-in-New-York theme Local DJs Nasty Nate and Logan Hudak spin in support.

Santo Chino's monthly old school vinyl party goes down again at Dada. This low-key, friendly dance party at Dada features expertly curated funk and disco (from Donna Summer to Fela Kuti) from the personal collections of this local record nerd. No cover.

NYC-based experimental EBM musician The Horrorist comes to Shelter. His brand of pitch black industrial techno, most famously the track “One Night in NYC,” weaves together a playful, creepy overlay of lyrics about the evils of city living with abrasive, danceable beats.
