Shanghai's Top 3 English Breakfasts

The most important meal of the day

The English Breakfast is one of the many ways to cure a hangover. If you're feeling weary this weekend, head out for brunch at one of the places to get a dose of bacon, eggs, sausage and toast all on one glorious plate. Here are three of our top picks for an English Breakfast plate.

Pie Society

Address: Rm 102, Bldg 5, 67 Xingfu Lu (near Fahuazhen Lu) 幸福 路67号幸福里5号楼102室 (近法华镇路)
Tel: 136-7189-3024

The English Breakfast is a surefire hangover cure, and Pie Society serves this remedy all day, every day. It's one of the best value fry-ups you can get—RMB68 for two eggs, one sausage, two slices of bacon, fried tomatoes, mushrooms, beans and toast. We suggest adding their house-made black pudding and hash browns, RMB15 each. Get one of their pies while you're at it.

Bull & Claw

Address: 110 Fenyang Lu (near Fuxing Zhong Lu) 汾阳路110号 (近复兴中路)
Tel: 3356-7608

Bull & Claw's fry-up (RMB120) comes fully loaded with toast, two eggs, potato hash, bacon, sausage, roasted tomatoes on the vine and caramelized shiitake mushrooms. Of course, it's not the only thing we love here for brunch. The Lobster Eggs Benedict is divine, too. The brunch is one course for RMB85, two courses for RMB145 and three courses for RMB165.  Take on the hair of the dog with your fry-up, too. Free-flow prosecco, house wine, rosé and lager are only RMB148 until 3pm. Or RMB218 for additional free-flow pale ale, IPA, Bloody Marys, Aperol and G&Ts.

M on the Bund

Address: 7/F, Bund 5, 20 Guangdong Lu (near Zhongshan Dong Yi Lu) 广东路20号外滩五号7楼 (近中山东一路)
Tel: 6350-9988

M on the Bund does a fry-up of truly epic proportions. It's a deliciously intimidating meal featuring a minute steak, lamb chop, grilled sausage, crispy bacon sauteed onions, mashed potatoes and a fried egg. For RMB298 you get two courses. For RMB328 you get three. Both come with unlimited tea or coffee. And you can enjoy some stunning Bund views. Prices are subject to a 10% service charge.
