The days may be getting colder but the Shanghai visual art scene is still as hot as ever. American fashion tomb Harper’s Bazaar is turning 150 and celebrating in a big way with an exhibition of video and other visual installations. If more localized art is your jam, check out Je Fine Art Gallery latest group show which features artwork inspired by the beauty of nature, while Kim Eunjin’s surrealist art showcases everyday occurrences in daily Chinese life.

Breaking Boundaries: Harper’s Bazaar 150 Anniversary Exhibition

America’s first fashion magazine has always been on the forefront of the industry, and this anniversary art exhibition celebrating 150 years of Harper's Bazaar is no different. Fashion, video art, and installation works spanning over the show's six epochs explore how Bazaar has both shaped and been shaped by the trends of its time, including videos from the legendary Coco Chanel, Pipilotti Rist’s installations, and Xu Longsen’s Shanshui Totem.

Our Time is Super realism artist Kim Eunjin’s first solo exhibition in Shanghai. Influenced by Buddhism culture, Kim highlights the connection between the living and the past life to explain the circle of life in this universe.

When: Through Tuesday, January 9

This pursuit of ‘natural beauty’ has actually been cultivated in China since Zhou-Qin era. Many philosophers and masters wandered through mountains and wilderness in search of the truth they were looking for. They found nothing. But sometimes, nothing is everything. Je presents four Chinese artists in an exhibition that explores themes of Zen. RMB30 during the weekdays, RMB35 on the weekends.
