There's a variety of music events for you to choose this week. Swedish indie band The Deer Tracks, Shanghai based punk band Round Eye, and British rock band Kontakte are jamming at Yuyintang. Eric Cloutier is rocking the dance floor with some techno at Elevator. American rapper Father will also bring the hype to Arkham with some hip-hop and rap. If you are craving for food, Simply Thai is hosting a Thai pop-up event and the Jing'an Kerry Center is having "The Social Table."

Jing'an Shangri-La, West Shanghai launches its Celebrity Bartender Series 2017 with a stellar line-up of award-winning celebrity bartenders from all over the world. The upcoming celebrity bartender Jillian Vose from The Dead Rabbit, USA which is listed as No.1 in the word’s 50 Best Bars. She will present her special drink menu, along with an exclusive Master Class for those who would like to get to know the bartenders better or pick up a few tips. Entry is RMB200 per person.

Kontakte China Tour

Conceived from a string of old 4-track demos and further realized via a labyrinth of digital workstations and computer software, Kontakte emerged in early 2006. The concept was to blend organic instrumentation within an electronic and hypnotic framework of programmed beats and pulsing synths. Inspired by the walls of sound of bands like Godspeed You Black Emperor and Mogwai, Kontakte’s other main passions were the ambient sounds of Brian Eno, mid-late 70’s German electronica and the early 90’s shoe gaze scene.

Chef Jib, Simply Thai’s guest chef this June, is part of a new generation of creative Thai chefs re-imagining Thai food with her minimalist style of Thai-French cuisine. Trained at Cordon Bleu and with Michelin two-star chef Philippe Vetele, Job is bringing a new wave of sophistication to Thai cuisine. Simply Thai will be serving the pop-up menu on June 22 for lunch and dinner for RMB 380 per person including wine.

Happy Friday, Shanghai Supperclub and Night + are all about bringing events to the community and they're joining up forces for a night of food, drink and music. They'll be hosting themed events all throughout summer, kicking off with "The Social Table" at the Jing'an Kerry Centre. It'll be open to the public from 4pm-11pm to admire "Summer Hive," a seasonal plant installation by Jing An Kerry Centre and Ryan Carter, urban garden designer. Paying guests will start off with cocktails at 6:30pm, followed by a five-course dinner at 7:30pm for RMB400 per person. Prepping the food will be Carlos Sotomayor of el Efante, drinks by Micaela Piccolo, music by DJ Yeti. Get social, y'all.




InterNations Night at La Maison

La Maison is hosting a special InterNations night with a welcome drink of wine and entertainment all night. La Maison is a beautiful mansion with a courtyard hidden in the heart of the french concession. Tickets are RMB110 for basic members, RMB150 for guests.



The Deer Tracks with Slim Vic

The Swedish Indie Electronica rhythm driven sensation The Deer Tracks are back after three years of silence with their new album Undersvik. Over a 10 days period, with outside world switched off, they just let the stillness and their own spirit color the lyrics and their sound. Undersvik is as much a result of the eternal insomnia of touring, as the tranquility and beauty of nature. They are joined by Slim Vic, one of Sweden's most respected innovator's and voices of turntable and club culture.  



Japanese Modern Classical Band Anoice Tour

Another three shows have been announced for Tokyo based cinematic instrumental music group, Anoice. Since their debut album Remmings was released, the band which specialises in cinematic soundtracks has been a global hit. Known for their dynamic compositions which feature an eclectic mix of bass, guitars, violins, keyboards and drums Anoice's avant garde sound has won them critical acclaim. The bands tour in China has been so successful that they're adding more dates to cater for demand.

Say Yes presents Eric Cloutier, a resident at The Bunker New York, is performing at Elevator. Born and raised in Detroit, resided in New York, now based in Berlin, he is getting his feet wet as a producer with EPs on Mosaic and Wolfskuild Ltd. Erick Cloutier will be bringing his vinyl collections all the way from Berlin to source and play his favorite records. Tickets are RMB60 pre-sale, RMB80 at the door.



Italian Dance Wave Asia
