No, it's not a giveaway, it's a live blog. I saw how much fun those guys were having live blogging the Shanghai Lit Fest and frankly, I felt left out. Then it occurred to me: I'm the Armchair Traveler, why not live blog my next holiday? So here I am. Before you get too excited about a live feed from the Amazonian rain forest, I'll just get this out: I'm doing a 江南巡游. This has a deep significance for me, but for most of the rest of you it means water towns. I'm staying pretty close to Shanghai, but, armed with two excellent books on the Jiangnan region (in Chinese, unfortunately for you non-readers out there), a fabulous map (again, all in Chinese!) I'm out to find some new sites and, if I end up hitting old sites, to find a different kind of feeling. I'm off tomorrow morning at 9:15 on the dongchezu bound for Suzhou. There, I'll grab a cab and head to a little town called Mudu (木读) half-way to Taihu.
