This ESPA-managed venue is all white marble, dark wood and ivory and navy flourishes, and it’s clear they pay close attention to details. After a cup of tea, we were whisked to the large, gorgeous VIP suite, which boasts a vitality pool, a shower-slash-steam room, a bathroom and two beds. The spa encourages you to arrive half an hour early so you have time to enjoy it all. We opted for the luxurious 110-minute Bamboo Harmonizer massage (¥1,300 plus surcharge) to stimulate our qi. The masseuse gave us a ginger foot scrub before applying a bristle body brush followed by a body scrub to encourage circulation. After a shower, she rubbed us down with oil, then wielded a piece of bamboo like a rolling pin on every part of our body. It sounds strange, but our reaction says it all–we fell asleep.
