All I want for Christmas is a non-sick child...

With Christmas just a few days away, its hard to think about gifts, dinner, trees, decorations, when I'm on 24 hour ear infection relapse. Double is my worry since we are down in Shenzhen visiting the hubby again and away from the great doctors at Shanghai United. I was so worried about relapse that we made an emergency trip to see the pediatrician at SHU an hour before boarding the plane on Friday. It's scary being in another country and not knowing where you can go when a medical emergency strikes,

A friend's baby recently had a cold which turned to bronchitis, then turned to pneumonia. They had to check the poor baby into the hospital only to realize the international hospital they were at wasn't licensed to check in babies. The almost sent the poor child home with medication, but luckily my friend was smart enough to figure out that they needed to go to another hospital to check in her baby. Again going with mother's instinct.

Scary to think of those who would have just listened to the doctor and gone home. Makes us realize that we really need to find out all the info at our hospitals and doctors clearly before an emergency happens.

Now I'm just watching Tanner's nose run like a non stop dripping faucet praying that this cold goes away... seriously, how long do colds last? I can't wait for spring. sigh... And to think it's just going to get worse once he gets to school. Parenthood really is the longest toughest job we can ever have, with no vacation time whatsoever.
